Louise Neo

Louise Neo is a research botanist with the Singapore Botanic Gardens. She is broadly interested in the floristics, phytogeography and forest ecology of tropical Asian rain forests and has extensive field research experience in tropical terrestrial habitats including primary and secondary dryland forests and primary freshwater swamp forest. At the Singapore Botanic Gardens, she works on the Dilleniaceae, Malvaceae (in part), Hypericaceae and Rhizophoraceae for the Flora of Singapore project and on research projects and public exhibitions in ethnobotany. She also studies Melastoma (Melastomataceae) in the Malay Peninsula. Louise completed her doctoral thesis at the National University of Singapore on the centres of plant generic endemism in Borneo and their significance for biogeography and conservation.
